Obituary for Shalmir Elaine Chatfield (Swett)
Shalmir Elaine Chatfield, 94, passed away May 13, 2023. She was born October 19, 1928 in New Haven, CT to Stanton and Alice (Koster) Swett.
Shalmir graduated from Dedham High School (MA) and from Boston University with a Bachelor’s Degree. She worked as an Executive Assistant, Realtor, and Real Estate Investor.
Shalmir was adventurous, always willing to try new things. She thought and seemed like she was 20 years younger than she was. She collected art, paintings, and unique rugs. She was a fearless investor and loved to travel. She even started motorcycling later in life. She was thoughtful and kept in touch with distant relatives. She received a karate certificate at age 78 and loved dogs.
Shalmir was preceded in death by: her parents, Stanton and Alice Swett; long-time partner, John Monahan; brother, Benson Swett; sister, Cynthia Watson; brother-in-law, Arthur Coté; and nieces, Allyson Watson and Pamela Watson-Hogan. She is survived by: her long-time partner, Norman Tremblay of Effingham, NH; sister, Martha Coté of Kennebunk; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00AM – 1:00PM on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green, 47 Oak St., Alfred.
