Pauline A. Lessard, 86 years young, of Sanford passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Pinnacle Health in Sanford. She was born August 28, 1936 a daughter of the late Leon and Una (Roussin) Pelletier. She graduated from St.Ignatius High School in 1954.
On January 12, 1957 Pauline married the “love of her life” Robert (Bob) Lessard. They were married 51 years. She lost “the love of her life” in 2008. Together they raised four children.
Pauline was employed by numerous businesses in Sanford retiring from Vishay Sprague as a Spec Writer in 1995. Bob and Pauline went on a cruise, a few trips to Illinois to see good friends and a trip to California to see relatives. After her retirement they spent several winters in Florida with friends and relatives. After Bob’s passing in 2008 she moved to the Genest apartments in Sanford. There she spent many hours playing cards with her childhood friend Shirley Ross and her new best friend Lucy Gregoire. She and Lucy both went to the Trafton Senior Center in Sanford and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, eating at the luncheons and cocktail hour. Pauline did some senior modeling in a few fashion shows and took a few bus trips with the Trafton Senior Center. Pauline was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Pauline moved to Pinnacle Health in Sanford in February 2019 after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She lived there “calling it her home” until her passing. Lucy Gregoire her best friend would visit and would say “wouldn’t it be funny if we were roommates someday.” Well low and behold Lucy became Pauline’s roommate. They were roommates until Pauline’s passing.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Pinnacle Health and thank them for their loving care, compassion, and kindness towards our mom. We would also like to thank Compassus Hospice for her palliative care.
Pauline is predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob) Lessard, son Ronald Lessard, daughter-in-law (Ronald’s spouse) Harriet Lessard, as well as her in-laws Adrien and Lea Lessard, two brothers Daniel and Robert Pelletier, sister-in-law Rose Sheltra, brother-in-law Albert Lessard, his spouse her sister-in-law Madeleine Lessard, and a brother-in-law George Spencer, nephew Greg Spencer, and brother-in-law Alfred (Diddy)Demers. Pauline’s first and precious loss was her grandmother Annie Roussin who she was at the movies with when she was 11 years old and Such devastation she was very close to her.
Pauline is survived by two sons Mark Lessard of Sanford, Jim Lessard and his wife Kelli of Shapleigh, and a daughter Debbie Dyer and husband Alan of Waterboro, two sisters Joanne Demers and Donna Jensen and husband Wayne. Also, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, January 22nd from 1-3 p.m. at Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green, 47 Oak Street, in Alfred. Interment will be held in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
