Nancy Leger unexpectedly passed away on December 19, 2022 at the age of 71 at home with her husband Bob at her side following a five-year struggle with dementia.
Nancy was born in Ansonia, Connecticut on August 17, 1951, to the late Harry A. Loretta (McCabe) Sundik.
Nancy was well known as being a thoughtful and caring person. Nancy’s outgoing nature often made her the life of the party.
Family was Nancy’s primary focus enjoying Sunday Dinners with her homemade sauce and Blueberry Pie.
Nancy and Bob spent 35 years together, meeting while camping at Apache Campground in Sanford, Maine. Their mutual love of motorcycling helped to quickly grow their friendship as they traveled to many locations and events.
In 1990 Nancy and Bob along with Nancy’s two children Taylor and Lauretta Schultz moved into Nancy’s “Dream House” in Limerick, Maine which Nancy turned into a home.
Having a green thumb, Nancy kept Bob busy helping her plant many flowers, trees, and large garden along with her many house plants. Their work in the garden was rewarded when harvest time came, and they were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor with any vegetable and sauce made from home grown tomatoes.
Nancy was a stay-at-home Mom until her youngest child Lauretta started attending school. She then got a job as a substitute teacher at the Line School and was able to see her throughout the day with hours that allowed her to be home when she got off the bus.
Nancy then went on to spend nearly 20 years working for Spurwink Services caring for Autistic Adults in their residential and day programs. She was very proud to have been a part of helping folks live their best lives.
Nancy retired from Spurwink in 2017 after being diagnosed with Dementia and spent her remaining years at home being cared for by Bob.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband Bob Leger, her two children Taylor and Lauretta Shultz, sister Donna Unger and husband Dick, brother Harry Sundik and many more nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Nancy’s life will be held in the future.
