It is with heartfelt sadness we, her family, announce the passing of a precious lady, Meredith A. Gerry. She went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2022 after a short illness. Merrie was born to Eugene L. Peterson and Doris E. Peterson on March 29, 1943 in Woburn, Mass. They moved to Alfred, Maine during her childhood. As a youth attending the Alfred Parish Church, she met her future husband, Keith L. Gerry Sr. They later wed on June 20, 1958. They built a life together over the next 63 years. Family was a priority, and they enjoyed a large, extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins with their three children. Merrie had a great sense of humor and was always ready for a good laugh. She loved to cook, and she was a good one. She also loved dogs and leaves behind her beloved black lab, Bubba. Family meant everything to her. She is survived by her husband Keith L. Gerry Sr of Alfred, daughter Kimberly Gerry Haywald of Chelsea, AL, son Keith Gerry Jr. (Kim) of Alfred, and daughter Jo-Ellen Gerry Harris (Ric) of Springvale, four grandchildren: Richard Haywald of Wilsonville, AL, Joanna Gerry Preble of Old Town, Erin Brinkert of Sanford and Stephanie Gerry of Land O’ Lakes, FL, eight great-grandchildren, her sister, Christina Peterson Lawyer of Waterboro and several loved nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her father, Eugene L. Peterson, mother, Doris E. Peterson, and her brother, Alfred E. Peterson. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Alfred Parish Church, 8 Kennebunk Rd., in Alfred. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, followed by refreshments in the chapel next to the church. In lieu of flowers, we would love for you to make a donation to your favorite charity in her memory. Merrie – Mom – Grammy – you have gone from us too soon. We love you and miss you. Arrangements are entrusted to Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green, 47 Oak Street, in Alfred.
