Obituary for Lorraine Aldea Curit

August 17, 1936 - April 10, 2022 Service Date: A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at a later date. Obituary: Lorraine Aldea Curit
Dateline: Sanford Lorraine Aldea Curit, 85, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed peacefully, surrounded in love
with her loving husband and four daughters by her side, on April 10, 2022. Lorraine was born in Sanford on August 17, 1936 the daughter of Leo A. and Irene (Huard)
Desruisseaux. Lorraine married the love of her life, George Curit on May 13th, 1954 and together they became one in spirit and complemented each other. Each week George would buy her a bouquet of carnations, which was a simple gesture of respect and love. They made their home in Sanford and Wells and together kept busy raising four daughters. Lorraine was the quintessential homemaker; she was an excellent cook and baker. She had a vast collection of cookbooks and very seldom had to refer to the directions with a recipe. Lorraine instilled manners and respect towards others and knew the bond between her daughters would
remain strong. Lorraine was an avid reader and her curiosity rivaled most. She was a great listener and listened without judgment or fault. A perfect day was spending time in her gardens, “getting her hands dirty.” She loved her daisy’s and made sure to keep her bird feeders full. Her collection of lighthouses added to the warmth of her home and Lorraine loved her rocking chair where she could watch the birds from her window. One of her favorite places to visit was the Nubble Light House in York. Lorraine was feisty and spirited. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and she and George were two peas in a pod. Their chance meeting at the movie theater grew into a warm and loving over 70 years together. They were partners in raising their children and loving their four grandsons and their four great-grandchildren. Lorraine was a lady in every sense of the word. She had beautiful clothes with just the right accessory and matching shoes. Her taste in music ranged from Johnny Cash and the Highway Men to Frank Sinatra and Barry Manilow. First was Lorraine’s devotion to her husband and family. She was their bright star and compass throughout their lives. We will cherish our memories and keep her spirit alive in our lives. Rest in eternal peace. Survivors include her loving husband George Curit, four daughters: Susan Coates and husband Edward, Carol Curit and husband David Remiszewski, Linda Curit Graber, and Lisa Levesque and husband Michael; four grandsons and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local library or share a favorite cookbook with others. The Autumn Green Funeral Home is respectfully handling arrangements.
