Keith Howard Bean died peacefully at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, Maine on February 22, 2023 with his daughter Mariann, his son Kirk & wife Wendy, & his granddaughters Amy & Vanessa, as well as his faithful dog TJ, by his side. During the last several months of his life, his granddaughter Amy and her partner Ryan, as well as his daughter Mariann, became caregivers for Keith.

Keith was born on October 5,1932 on the side of the road in North Shapleigh, Maine. He was delivered by the man whose granddaughter, Ann, he would one day marry. In childhood, Keith and his siblings were raised on a farm in Waterboro and he graduated from Waterboro High School in 1951. As a young man, Keith set out into the world, serving in the Korean War for the US Army in 1953 to 1955, wiring pillboxes and helping build Camp Casey. Following his time in Korea, he married Ann in 1957 and worked hard as a truck driver until his retirement.

A talented harmonica player, Keith embraced his musical side in his later years, recording albums with his brother Gordon and playing music with a host of talented country musicians. Touring the country on motorcycles and later becoming snowbirds in Texas with an RV in tow, Keith and his wife Ann embraced adventure and fun in the last decades of their lives. Another of Keith’s many talents was for woodworking. A fine craftsman, his many creations decorate the homes of his entire family and many of his friends. He was ingenious and always busy creating new designs for custom furniture pieces through his final years. His family will cherish the heirlooms he leaves behind.

Keith is remembered by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as a generous and loving person. He was always very opinionated and enjoyed a rousing and lively debate.
