Obituary for Jocelyn R. "Jesse" Plourde

Jocelyn R. Plourde, 73, went home to be with the Lord peacefully, on Sunday August 7, 2022. “Jesse” was the son of Leo Plourde and Annette Tardif born on February 25, 1949, in Sully, Quebec, Canada.

Jesse grew up and went to school in Quebec. He was one of 5 children, one brother and 3 sisters. His mom unexpectedly died when he was 10 years old which devastated him. Shortly after her death, Jesse was placed in an orphanage where he learned to live independently. He left the orphanage when he was 15 years old, and he learnt to stand on his own feet ever since.

He came to the United States from Canada in his late teen years. Jesse met his life partner Huguette P. Boisvert and fell in love with her. They got married on June 30, 1973, in Lowell, Massachusetts. They have two sons: Simon Plourde and Jason Plourde. He eventually settled down in Shapleigh, Maine and enjoyed his retirement.

Jesse loved God and his family very much. He was a born-again believer and a faithful member of Grace Family Church until the end. He was a hard worker who was loyal to his family and employer. He worked as a drywall finisher and skillfully completed every task that was entrusted to him. He had a great work ethic. Everyone appreciated the quality and efficiency of his work.

Honesty, integrity, determination, tenacity, and trustworthiness are some of Jesse’s hallmark qualities. Although he was quiet, he was intelligent and had a sense of humor.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and playing pool. In fact, he played professional pool, and won countless competitions and championships. He had an exceptional handle and played gracefully in every game. Eventually he gifted his cherished possession of the pool table to Grace Family Church before his death.

Jesse is survived by his beloved wife Huguette Plourde, and two wonderful sons, Simon Plourde and Jason Plourde as well as grandchildren Simon Glavin and Katayanna Glavin, brother Pierrot Plourde, and sisters Michelle Plourde, Helene Plourde, and half-sister Lise Lasalle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 20th at 11 AM at Grace Family Church, 1176 Main St. in Waterboro, Maine followed by a luncheon at the same premises.

Jesse may have gone ahead, but his loving memories will live on!
