Obituary for Joan E. Littlefield

June 15, 1939 - April 29, 2022 Service Date: A private graveside service will be held later. Joan E. Littlefield, 82, a longtime resident of Lyman and devoted mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed on April 29, 2022 at Seal Rock Health Care in Saco. Joan was born in Alfred on June 15, 1939, the daughter of Orrin and Edith (Lord) Davis. Growing up in a small community meant you knew just about everyone and that was true for Joan meeting her future husband Leland E. Littlefield, Sr. Joan and Lee shared 54 years of marriage together before his passing in January 2013. Joan and Lee were not only soul mates, but they owned and operated Southern Maine Homes in Lyman for over 30 years. Joan had a passion for interior decorating and enjoyed decorating show homes and assisting customers with choosing interior design of their homes. During this time, Joan and Lee also took many trips to Mexico, St. Thomas, Barbados, Jamaica and Disney World, compliments of their distributor, Pine Grove Homes. Joan and Lee enjoyed the company of their many good friends. In their younger years you could find them all living life to its fullest, going to dinner and dancing the night away at local establishments. In later years you could find them travelling with their friends and the 50+ club.
Joan was a loving and nurturing person. In recent years, Joan loved having friends and family over for lunch. They enjoyed playing cards and heart-warming conversations. We will miss her smile and twinkle in her eyes and the beautiful soul she possessed. She has now entered into eternal rest and joined family members that she has missed. Joan is survived by her daughter, Lisa Vargas and husband Andres of Lyman. She was a wonderful Nana to her grandchildren, Sarah Littlefield (Peter), Katie Smythe (Lance), Jessica Cantara (Ross), Anthony Galluze (Falichia), Tomas Littlefield (Alanna), Andres Enrique Vargas (Kassidy), and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Mason, Lila, Ameah, Jyllianne, and McKinlee. She was predeceased by her husband Leland Sr., son Leland Jr., and two sisters, Dorothy Tuttle and Phyliss Balding. A private graveside service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 350, Westbrook, ME 04092 or to the Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094. Arrangements are in the care of Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green, 47 Oak St., in Alfred.
