On March 3, 2023 James Niles Hanson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
James was born in Wilmington, Massachusetts on January 10,1933 the
son of Hebert Hanson and Mary Alice (Niles) Hanson.
He worked for 44 years (1953 to 1997) as a brush painter for Bath Iron Works. In his spare time, he worked on his extensive coin collection, went to coin shows, belonged to a coin club in Brunswick, and tended to his garden. In his retirement years, he enjoyed flea markets both as a seller and buyer. He loved food and the highlight of his day was his daily treat of ice cream or a FroJoe from Aroma Joe’s.
James was predeceased by his parents Hebert and Mary Alice (Niles) Hanson and his youngest daughter Angela Eileen (Hanson) Williams.
He is survived by his daughters Pamela Jean (Hanson) Jordan and her husband Peter Jordan, Mary Alice (Hanson) Chabot and son Daniel Niles Hanson. Also surviving are four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Memorial Day, May 29, 2023 at Highland Cemetery in Jefferson, Maine.
