Obituary for Harry E. Murphy

Harry E. Murphy passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 23, 1941 in Youngstown, OH to Lawrence and Harriet Murphy and raised in New Jersey. He was the youngest of fourteen children.

Harry worked in the carpentry field for many years in Connecticut where he found his love for woodworking. In 1975 he moved his family to Maine, bought a home in Canaan, where he opened his own business named Canaan Woodworking. He started Canaan Woodworking in 1978 and did architectural millwork for twenty-five years.

Harry is also remembered as a volunteer firefighter and an active mason of 35 years where he achieved the level of Marshal in the Arion Masonic Lodge # 162 in Lyman. Harry enjoyed family gatherings, camping, traveling and cookouts.

He is survived by his loving wife Brenda of 47 years and four children, Jason and his wife Lisa, Jennifer and her fiancé Michael, Lauren, and Francis, twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.

Additionally, he is survived by three sisters, Kay Marsch, Pat Corbin, and Ruth Hoppe, 2
brothers Richard and Larry Murphy.

He is also predeceased by a daughter Beth, two sisters, five brothers and one granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held on October 1, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Pine Grove South Cemetery, West Rd. Waterboro, ME 04087 (Directly across from the Massabesic High School).

The service will be followed by a celebration of life at the Murphy residence, which is located at 88 Nicholas Lane, Waterboro, ME 04087. There will be finger foods and refreshments, Feel free to bring a dish, but not necessary.
