Committal Prayers and burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford. Gerard A. Raymond, 75, a longtime resident of Dayton, passed in the comfort of his home, surrounded in love by his family on June 15, 2022. Gerard was born on July 19, 1946, in Degelis, in the province of Quebec, Canada, the son of Anthyme and Jeanette (Soucy) Raymond. He was educated in Canada and moved to Biddeford with his family in 1965. Gerard possessed a strong work ethic and became employed at the West Point Pepperell Mill as a weaver and advanced to the Loom Fixer before the mill closed. Not one to sit idle and wanting to provide for his growing family, he went to Biddeford Textile where he became a supervisor and stayed until 2000. Following the downsizing of the mill, Gerard gained employment at General Dynamic and worked there until his retirement. He was married on June 22, 1968 to his wife, best friend, and soulmate Elizabeth I. Levesque. They made their home in Dayton and welcomed into their hearts and home four children, a daughter Nancy and three sons, Steven, Danny, and Gary. Gerard’s world was complete when his children and grandchildren came to visit. He was a great handy man around the house; Elizabeth always had her “honey do” list ready. Whatever needed to be repaired he had the skills and talents to fix them right the first time around! He spent many hours tending to his gardens and mowing his own lawn, his daughter’s, and others in the neighborhood. Gerard also liked to go hunting. We will miss him dearly and know he has been released from his struggles on earth. Rest in peace and we will never forget your love and smile. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth I. Raymond of Dayton; and daughter Nancy Raymond of Dayton; his three sons, Steven Raymond of Dayton; Danny Raymond and wife Carrie of Wyoming; and Gary Raymond and wife Amanda from Norfolk, VA; his “fur baby” Gracie. Also, five grandchildren: Mellanie Raymond Fuller and husband Kris of Parsonsfield; Olivia and Colvin Raymond of Norfolk, VA; and Lucianna and Elijah Raymond of Wyoming; and two great-grandchildren Sierra and Garrett Fuller. Gerard also leaves three sisters, Jeannine Moreau of St. Jacques, New Brunswick, Canada: Antoinette Collin of Biddeford and Gaetane Raymond of Montreal, Canada. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Philips Catholic Church, 404 Goodwin Mills Rd., in Lyman. Immediately following the mass, committal prayers and burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford. Following the graveside service, you are cordially invited to a reception at Duffy’s Grill in Old Orchard (Formerly Old Captains Gallery). Arrangements are in the care of Bibber Memorial at Autumn Green, 47 Oak St., in Alfred.
