Obituary for Felton Warren Roberts Jr.

Obituary: Felton W. Roberts, Jr.
Dateline: Springvale

Felton Warren Roberts, Jr., 94, a longtime resident of Springvale, Maine died on May 21, 2023, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, Maine.

Felton was born in Sanford on May 11, 1929, the son of Blanche Hobbs and Felton W. Roberts, Sr. He was raised in Sanford and was a member of the Mousam Lake Grange.

He was in the vocational classes at Sanford High School and graduated in 1948. Felton enlisted in the US Army on March 2, 1951 and was honorably discharged on March 3, 1953 at Fort Devens, Mass. He spent time during his service stationed in Germany.

Felton possessed a strong work ethic. He worked for Pratt-n-Whitney in Connecticut and for many years worked locally as truck driver for “Toppy” Allen and Sanborn Trucking.

Felton was a lifetime member of the Springvale Masonic Lodge # 190 AF & AM and the VFW Post 9935 in Sanford. He also enjoyed attending the local Bean suppers in the area.

Felton loved his two daughters, Dorinda and Cynthia. He strived to make life easier for them and wanted the two of them to share his mementos. He was a quiet man with unwavering respect towards others. He would travel down to Silver Springs, Florida to visit with his daughters and his grandchildren. Felton tried to schedule his visits when it wasn’t too hot, and he had a healthy dose of disdain for alligators!

Felton had a long and full life. He has now entered into eternal rest.

To cherish his memory are his two daughters, Dorinda Abrams and Cynthia Loos, both of Silver Springs, Florida; his sister Sylvia Gile of Alfred; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Felton was predeceased by his two brothers, Arvid and Eldred Roberts, and sister Gloria Munsey.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, in Springvale, ME.
