Obituary for Daniel A. Boisvert

Daniel A. Boisvert, beloved husband and friend, passed in the home he was raised in on Sunday, August 7, 2022 with his family by his side.

Daniel was born on August 24, 1947, the son of Arthur and Cora (Vilandry) Boisvert.

He was raised in Sanford and attended St. Ignatius High School, graduating with the Class of 1967.

Dan married his sweetheart and devoted wife Bonnie Meader on August 21, 1976, and they enjoyed close to 45 years together. Their honeymoon was visiting Niagara Falls, in New York.

Daniel worked for many years at the St. Ignatius Church and rectory as well as being the sexton of St. Ignatius Cemetery. Dan was a member of the Lafayette Social Club and bartended there until 1976. He was also the bar tender at the Knights of Columbus Social Club. It was while tending to the customers he would hear the stories, worries and joys in people’s lives.

Dan was a ‘dyed in the wool’ New England fan, cheering for the Red Sox (not this year) the Patriots, Bruins and watching golf. He danced to his doo wop oldies of the 50’s and was a willing partner to swirl you across the dance floor. Dan loved family gatherings on Sundays at his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Chloe Meader in Lebanon.

Dan’s “love of his life” was Mei Mei, a Chihuahua & Dudson mix, who he faithfully took to the park everyday and for car rides. He was also known for his adventures at the Oxford Casino. Dan possessed a giving and big heart. Dan loved going grocery shopping and doing laundry for his friend Tom Cummings. Sunday nights would not be complete without watching the “real news” on 60 Minutes!

Daniel was the backbone of the family. He supported Bonnie’s dream of owning her own business, by cooking and cleaning their home. He was a man of faith in his own quiet way and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Dan took care of his uncle Raymond Vilandry and brought him to live in their home until his passing.

During his many health challenges, he was on the receiving end of family and friend’s prayers, kindness, and support.

We will miss your presence, sense of humor and unconditional love. Be at peace and know you will always hold a special piece of our hearts.

Daniel is lovingly survived by his wife Bonnie Boisvert of Sanford and his “adopted daughter” Amber Turner - Dan loved to attend her basketball and softball games, and many friends.

He was predeceased by his brother Gerard, his aunt Rita Turcotte, his uncles: Roger and Raymond Vilandry.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.

In his memory, donations may be made to Rolling Thunder Chapter One of Maine, P.O. Box 1274, Sanford, ME 04073 or to the Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 43, West Kennebunk, ME 04094.
